What actually makes it a "paver machine"
The distinction that matters is not the machine but the mould box. Every machine in our block-machine range ships with one steel mould box, and the profile it produces is a property of that box: a 240 × 53 × 115 mm standard brick, a 390 × 190 × 190 mm hollow block, or a paver.
On the R4-35 series, a custom mould box for pavers and shaped blocks is available, and additional mould profiles are quoted separately from the machine. A multi-cavity paver box is what raises the number of pieces produced per cycle — the R4-35BH is listed for multi-cavity mould production of pavers and shaped blocks for exactly that reason.
So a buyer searching for a machine for pavers is looking for two things at once: a machine that accepts a paver box, and the box itself.
Which models take a paver mould box
The R4-35 series is the fixed-yard end of the range, and it is the series listed for paver production:
- R4-35A — 4.8 kW, 35-second cycle, 750 kg. About 15,000 standard bricks or 2,400 hollow blocks per shift.
- R4-35AH — 4.8 kW, 35-second cycle, 780 kg, with a charging hopper. About 20,000 standard bricks or 3,200 hollow blocks per shift.
- R4-35B — 6.3 kW, 35-second cycle, 800 kg, for heavier mould boxes and multi-cavity patterns.
- R4-35BH — 6.3 kW, 35-second cycle, 830 kg, with a charging hopper. About 20,000 standard bricks or 3,200 hollow blocks per shift.
The shift figures published for these models are for standard bricks and hollow blocks. Paver output depends on the cavity count of the paver box you specify, so it is quoted with the box rather than stated here as a fixed number.
The casting alternative: PP paver moulds
If the volume does not justify a machine, or the site has no power, pavers can be cast by hand with a plastic mould. We supply these as a separate line.
The Big Paver Mould is a PP mould for casting interlocking concrete paving stones of 200 × 200 mm, quoted at more than 800 reuses, supplied from an MOQ of 500 pieces. Its purpose is the interlocking profile — the shape is what makes the laid pavers lock together rather than sit side by side. With 400# cement the specification quotes the pavers taking a compressive strength of 400–500 kg/cm², which is the manufacturer's figure rather than our own test.
For a decorative interlocking hollow unit at 200 × 200 × 200 mm there is the Hollow Brick Mould HC-B-25, an injection-moulded PP mould quoted at more than 200 reuses, with a 1–2 day demoulding time and an MOQ of 10 pieces.
The full line, including sizes and lead times, is on Paver and Brick Moulds.
How to choose between the two routes
The deciding factors are volume, power and whether the pavers are the product or a detail.
- Machine route — choose it when pavers are a product you sell rather than a one-off. Output is set by the machine's cycle and the cavity count of the box, and it runs at that rate all shift.
- Casting route — choose it when the quantity is small, the site has no reliable power, or the pavers are decorative and made in small batches. Capital cost is a fraction of a machine's, and the cost is labour.
- Both — a yard can run a machine for its standard brick and hollow block output and cast decorative units by hand from the same mix, which is common where the decorative work is occasional.
Common questions
- Can a block making machine make pavers? Yes, with a paver mould box. The machine does the compacting; the box decides the shape. On our range this applies to the R4-35 series.
- Do I need a different machine for interlocking pavers? No. Interlocking is a property of the mould profile, not of the machine. The interlocking pavers produced from the 200 × 200 mm PP mould are cast rather than machine-pressed, but the principle is the same: the shape comes from the mould.
- What paver size does the big paver mould produce? 200 × 200 mm, interlocking, cast in PP.
- What is the minimum order? The Big Paver Mould is supplied from 500 pieces and the HC-B-25 from 10 pieces. Machine mould boxes are quoted per machine order.
- Can pavers be made without electricity? Yes — by casting with a PP mould. Machine production needs power or a diesel model.
Where these figures come from
The machine figures on this page are the published factory data for each model and appear on the model's own page. The mould figures are the published specification for each mould and appear on the mould's own page, including the note that a reuse figure for the paver mould range has been quoted differently by the supplier and should be confirmed for your order.
